Solid service, minor quibble

I got the SMTP Relay Service after my old provider started having deliverability issues. Setup was pretty straightforward, and emails are definitely getting through better now, which is the main thing. The Real-time Email Analytics are helpful for tracking. My only small gripe is that the user interface feels a little dated compared to some others I've used. It's functional, but an update would be nice. Overall, good value for the improved deliverability.

Email delivery is fantastic!

I just set up the SMTP Relay Service last week, and it's absolutely fantastic! Email deliverability improved almost immediately, and the setup was a breeze. I'm telling everyone about this. I'll definitely be back for more services soon!

Consistent service, reliable

I've been using SMTP.com for a couple of years now for various projects, mostly their Dedicated IP Addresses and Managed Email Delivery. This latest purchase for an additional dedicated IP went as smoothly as always. Their service is consistently reliable, and I rarely have to think about email delivery. It's good to know I can count on them to just work.

Smooth migration, great support

I recently migrated our transactional emails over to SMTP.com using their API. The API Documentation was clear, and I managed to integrate it within a few hours. We did hit a snag with some older email templates, so I contacted support. They responded quickly, within a few hours, and helped troubleshoot the issue. The Email Logs are really detailed, which helped a lot. Delivery has been consistent, and the Real-time Email Analytics give good insights. Overall, a very positive experience from start to finish.

Good value, free trial helped

I was looking for a new email provider and tried the free trial for their Shared IP Pools. It gave me enough time to test everything. Once I saw it worked, I bought a monthly plan. The cost per email is reasonable, and it feels like a good deal for the features included. Happy with the value for money, especially after using the trial to be sure.

Does SMTP.com ever do promo codes or special discounts? Trying to save a bit if possible.

M Mia 1 month ago
Promo codes are pretty rare from what I've seen. They mostly focus on the free trial. Sometimes for specific marketing things or referrals, but don't count on finding a generic one.

They don't do a ton of coupons like a retail store. Your best bet for a discount is the annual plan or if you're a non-profit or have really high volume, then you can talk to sales.

If I sign up for a plan, can I cancel it anytime without a penalty, or am I locked into a contract?

T Tom 1 month ago
You can cancel your subscription whenever you want. They're pretty flexible on that front, no long-term contracts if you're paying monthly.

Yeah, I canceled a smaller plan once and it was straightforward. Just make sure to check your billing cycle so you don't get charged for the next period unintentionally.

What's the deal with their managed email delivery service? Is it worth it for a small dev shop or more for big enterprise stuff?

R Renee 1 month ago
I think it depends on how much you want to handle yourself. For a small shop, it might be overkill unless you have really specific deliverability problems. It's more for companies that don't want to worry about any of the infrastructure.

From what I understand, it's more for businesses that need a hands-off approach and have specific needs that go beyond the basic relay. They do offer consulting too, which might be a better fit if you just need some guidance.

How long does it typically take to get an account approved and start sending emails after signing up?

P Phil Bennett 1 month ago
Mine was pretty quick, I think it was almost instant for the basic trial. For actual high volume stuff, they might have some checks, but generally, it's not a long wait.

I got approved within minutes for the trial. If you need dedicated IPs or custom solutions, it might take a bit longer for setup, but getting started is fast.

Thinking of switching from Mailgun. Is SMTP.com generally considered better for deliverability or are they pretty comparable?

M Mike Okafor 3 weeks ago
From my experience, SMTP.com has been solid. I switched from SendGrid actually and noticed a slight improvement in deliverability, especially for transactional emails. Their reputation defender thing seems to work.

It really depends on your use case, but a lot of people say SMTP.com is more reliable for high volume sending. I've used both and found SMTP.com to be more consistent.

I'm looking at their pricing and it seems like annual billing saves money. How much of a discount are we talking?

L Laura M. 1 month ago
I think it's usually around 10-20% if you pay annually. It's a pretty good chunk of change if you're planning on sticking with them for a while.
1
T Todd Foster 1 month ago
Yeah, if you look at the plan options, the annual one clearly shows a lower effective monthly cost. It's a decent discount, enough to make it worth it.

Are there any specific discounts for non-profits or educational institutions? Trying to get a good deal for our small charity.

A Amber Osei 1 month ago
I'm pretty sure they have a non-profit discount. You'd probably have to reach out to their sales team directly to inquire about it.
1
N Noor 1 month ago
Yes, they do mention non-profit discounts. It's not advertised on the main pricing page, so you'll need to contact support or sales to get the details and apply for it.

Hey, anyone know if SMTP.com has a free trial I can check out before committing to a plan?

M Marcus 3 weeks ago
Yeah, they definitely do. I signed up for one last month to test their API out, no credit card needed for the basic trial.

D Daisy Reyes 3 weeks ago
They offer a free trial, just go to their site. It's how I got started with them to see if it fit my project.
